If you’re looking for somewhere a little different for Valentine’s Day, West Lulworth makes a rather lovely choice.
There are coastal walks, a beautiful village, good places to eat and the Jurassic Coast right on your doorstep. And at the end of the day, you can come back to a cosy 300-year-old thatched cottage that’s designed for two.
You don’t need a packed itinerary.
Sometimes a walk by the sea, a good dinner and somewhere lovely to spend the evening together is enough.

A romantic weekend on the Jurassic Coast
Honeysuckle Cottage is in the heart of West Lulworth, around a 10-minute walk from Lulworth Cove.
That means you can leave the car behind and head down to the coast together.
Walk around the Cove, follow the South West Coast Path or simply find somewhere to sit and watch the sea.
February can be a beautiful time to see this part of Dorset. The landscape feels quieter than it does in summer, and if you pick a crisp, bright day, the winter light across the cliffs and sea can be spectacular.
And if the weather isn’t perfect?
That’s what the cottage is for. Or why the pub, with roaring fires calls.
Take your time
One of the nicest things about a Valentine’s break is not having to do very much.
Have a slow breakfast.
Go for a walk.
Stop somewhere for lunch.
Come back to the cottage and warm up.
Get ready for dinner.
There is no need to drive from one attraction to another or fill every hour.
West Lulworth is small enough that you can simply slow down and enjoy being somewhere different together.
Explore Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door
If you want to make the most of your stay, the Jurassic Coast gives you plenty of options.
Lulworth Cove is an easy walk from the cottage, while Durdle Door can be reached on foot along the coast path if you’re up for a longer walk.
The walk between the two is beautiful but includes some steep sections, so sensible footwear is a good idea.
You could also explore Lulworth Castle, visit some of the local pubs and restaurants or simply spend an afternoon wandering around the village.
Then come back to Honeysuckle
Honeysuckle Cottage was created for two, so it works particularly well for a romantic break.
There’s a comfortable king-size bed with a Hypnos mattress, a walk-in rainfall shower, underfloor heating beneath the natural stone floors and an electric log-effect fire for cosy evenings.
The kitchen is fully equipped if you’d rather cook together, although there are several places to eat locally if you’d prefer someone else to do the cooking.
And after dinner, you don’t have to go anywhere.
Put your feet up, make a cup of Dorset tea or pour a glass of something you brought with you and enjoy having the cottage to yourselves.
A Valentine’s Day by the coast
You don’t have to wait until Valentine’s evening to make it special.
Get outside early and walk down to Lulworth Cove.
Take the longer route towards Durdle Door if the weather is good, or keep things simple with a stroll around the village.
Come back for a hot shower and a relaxed afternoon before heading out for dinner.
It’s a very simple way to spend Valentine’s Day, but that’s rather the point.
Valentine’s at Honeysuckle Cottage
For 2027, our Valentine’s stay is currently planned for 12–15 February, with a three-night stay at £555. Longer stays may be possible too, depending on availability.
As with our other direct three-night stays, this includes two tickets to Monkey World.
If you’re considering Valentine’s for a future year, the dates and offer may change, so it’s worth getting in touch with us directly.
More than just Valentine’s
Of course, you don’t need a particular occasion to come to West Lulworth.
An anniversary, birthday, proposal, or simply a few days away together all work just as well.
In fact, we’d argue that you don’t really need a reason at all.
Honeysuckle Cottage is a romantic cottage for two throughout the year, with the Jurassic Coast on the doorstep and plenty of reasons to slow down together.
