More than a day at Lulworth Cove
Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door might be the reason you first come to West Lulworth, but there’s much more to discover once you’re here.
Stay in the village and you can walk to the coast before the crowds arrive, follow the South West Coast Path, enjoy dinner at a local pub and be back at your cottage in minutes.
From beaches and coastal walks to castles, wildlife, museums and country pubs, West Lulworth makes a wonderful base for exploring the Jurassic Coast.
The Coast & West Lulworth Beaches
Lulworth Cove
A few minutes from the cottage, this famous horseshoe-shaped bay is one of Dorset’s most recognisable landscapes.
Durdle Door
Walk along the coast from West Lulworth, or drive and park closer to Durdle Door at the nearby car park. It’s a challenging walk from the cottage, but the views make it well worth the effort. If you drive, check the current Lulworth Estate parking fees before you go.
Man O’ War Bay, St Oswald’s Bay and Stair Hole & The Crumple
Don’t just stop at Durdle Door. These lesser-known spots are well worth discovering too.
Mupe Bay
A beautiful beach, around 45 minutes walk each way from the cottage. It’s only accessible when the range walks are open – so check before you set off to avoid disappointment.
Coastal walks
With such a central location in West Lulworth, you can walk to some of the best areas of the Jurassic Coast straight from the door of Honeysuckle Cottage.
Eat Locally
You don’t need to get back in the car for dinner. West Lulworth and the surrounding villages have a handful of pubs, cafés and restaurants, with plenty more within a short drive.
From the door, many of our guests take the 2 minute walk to The Castle Inn, a traditional pub with great menu and a roaring fire over the winter. We also recommend the Lodge at Lulworth – a pleasant 15 minute stroll from the cottage, and just a few minutes from the shore at Lulworth Cove.

Tyneham Ghost Village
A village frozen in time. Only open when the ranges are, it’s the perfect place for a Sunday afternoon visit.
Corfe Castle
A National Trust site. Explore the castle, the village, the model village and ride a vintage steam train on the Swanage railway.
The Blue Pool
A disused clay pit, now the home of a beautiful lake. Wander around the grounds before a stop in the tea rooms for cake!
Swanage
A traditional seaside town with a sandy beach, Victorian pier, independent shops and plenty of places to eat.

Slow down
Not every day needs to be packed with places to visit. Walk down to the Cove in the morning, take the coast path for an hour, stop for lunch and spend the afternoon in the garden with a book, and your favourite Dorset tea. With a biscuit of course.
Sometimes the best thing about staying on the Jurassic Coast is having nowhere else you need to be.
